Shopping Online

When you shop online you may want to use a "shopping search engine", also known as a "Shopping Assistant" of a "Shopping 'bot".  This is a  way for you to search for the best price and features on selected items.

For example, using DealTime you pick a type of product,  and you'll get buyer's tips, advice about important features, and a search tool that asks you what kinds of features you want and what your price range is.  Then DealTime  presents you with a list of products (complete with photos) of the products that match your needs.

Shopping Assistants

Here are some shopping assistants ("shopping 'bots") that you can try:
  • DealTime - This shopping 'bot stays on the case even if you can't find the item you want at the price you want.  Just give it those two pieces of information and it will continue to search the Web for you until if finds the item.  There are 11358  Sports, Outdoor & Activity Items deals from 100 merchants right now between $1 and $6500.

  • mySimon - This is the shopping 'bot to beat.  PC Magazine's Editors' Choice winner, mySimon queries so many sites that it does a better job finding the best deal than other shopping agents do.  The site is divided into dozens of categories that cover just about any item you're likely to buy.  I went shopping for a backpacking tent at mySimon and got 138 choices.

  • Gateway - Another Editors' Choice, Gateways Web store takes a useful step-by-step approach to guiding you toward the right system for your needs.  Peripherals and software sold on the site often come with rebates, so look for the best deals you can find.

  • NetMarket - A massive members-only store (it's inexpensive to join) full of everything from books to computers, from cameras to cars. Like other online shopping centers, NetMarket has some deals, especially on electronics, and a low-price guarantee lets you shop knowing your bargain is for real.  Like to bargain?  Don't miss the new Haggle Zone, where anyone, even non-members, can pick a product and haggle for it in real time.  It also has a "Sports & Health" category.
