The Portland chapter of the Oregon Nordic Club (ONC) offers day and overnight outdoor outings, most of which are held on weekends. Our trips including Nordic skiing, but also hiking, biking, backpacking, canoeing, and kayaking.

We sponsor a variety of ski-related special events including a fall jamboree, gear swap, ski instruction, and monthly meetings with a wide variety of speakers and presentations (see next month's program).

All events (except eating!) are rated for skill required, according to factors such as distance, terrain, and elevation gain. Activities are available that are suitable for a range of skill levels, from novices to advanced outdoor enthusiasts, and vary in duration from a few hours to a week. See the trips guide for more details about our outings.

To obtain further membership information, including a copy of our monthly newsletter, or download a membership application, see our membership page.

Ski Lessons and Equipment

We offer free ski instruction for our members who are beginner skiers, with a clinic in January and on-the-snow sessions for two weekends in February. The ski clinic is a prerequisite for the on-the-the-snow sessions. Join the club now to be notified about the lessons. Nordic ski lessons are also available through other organizations in the Portland area.

Looking for Nordic gear? Visit our Ski Gear page to learn about ski equipment. One of the benefits of being an ONC member is that many ski shops offer discounts to ONC members. When shopping for ski equipment, ask them if they offer ONC club discounts.
