Nordic Club
NEW 2007/2008 Tour Schedule
Available!
The Ochoco Chapter of the Oregon Nordic Club is an organization for cross-country skiers. The primary purpose of the club is to promote skiing, especially in the Ochoco Mountains. Membership is open to everyone. Annual dues are $9.00 for an individual and $13.00 for a family.
The club has one annual meeting and potluck dinner in November when new officers and board members are elected. Most decisions are made by the board members who meet periodically during the year as the need occurs. Newsletters and phone calls are used to keep members informed on coming events and snow conditions. The club schedules a variety of ski events through the winter months that includes guided ski tours, beginner ski lessons, a moonlight dinner and ski and ski trips to other areas. There is usually a scheduled ski tour twice a month and a group that skis once each week during winter, usually on weekdays. We often have outdoor trips and trail work days in the summer. The club, in cooperation with the Ochoco National Forest personnel, Has developed and maintains ski trail systems near Bandit Springs, Walton Sno-Park, and Lookout Mountain. To accomplish trail work, there are scheduled work days during the summer and fall. Club representatives meet regularly with the Forest Service to discuss skiing issues and respond to Forest Service proposals that affect skiers.
As part of the State ONC, we maintain contact with other chapters and keep members informed on issues that affect skiing. We often participate in activities that involve other chapters.
