Skiing with Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB), 2010
Volunteers from ONC's Columbia Gorge and Teacup chapters and the US Forest Service put on the 2nd annual Skiing with Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) at Teacup Nordic Ski Area. This two day event (March 9-10) was billed as us giving XC ski lessons to the visually-impaired, but in reality it turned out to be us trying to keep up with the WSSB kids.
Wahoo Gulch scares off a lot of experienced skiers, but the WSSB line at the top just kept getting longer. Maybe it helps if you can't see what you're up against so you just deal with what comes.And deal with it they did, with big grins and not a single injury in the entire two days. By the way, the Columbia Gorge Chapter purchased the sack lunches for all of the students and their staff for Tuesday's lunch break.
