Teacup End of Season
Well, we've finished for this year. Thanks to all for another great year of nordic skiing at Teacup. We continue on a solid financial and organizational footing and look forward to next year's skiing - after a bit of a rest!
A couple of things:
YOUR TEACUP BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Two long-time board members are stepping down, and we're looking to replace them. Please contact me if you would consider discussing this role of service to The Club. And please join me in a huge, outsize THANK YOU to Brian Howard and Richard Fay for their enormous and generous contributions to Teacup.
OFF SEASON FITNESS: There are a number of great organizations that provide fun and fitness during the summer. Many Teacup folks are members and you might want to join in the fun. Text follows about Portland Kayak and Canoe Club, Portland Boat Club, and PIR bike and skate racing:
* The Portland Kayak and Canoe Team (PKCT) promotes performance flatwater kayaking for fitness and competition. Over the years several Teacup members, including some of our junior Teacup racers, have been active kayakers in the summer. PKCT operates out of a boathouse in Oaks Park in Portland. Kayakers meet there to paddle on the Willamette River. The club has equipment for members to use, and boathouse storage for members' personal boats. They offer a junior program (age 11-17) in the summer. PKCT has offered to host an introductory clinic for adult Teacup members in May. Teacup members interested in learning more can email PKCT through the CONTACT US link on their web page. See: http://www.portlandkayakteam.org/
* The Portland Boat Club provides opportunities for rowing, specifically sculling, on Multnomah Channel, by Sauvie Island. Coaching can be arranged on an individual basis. Reach them at http://www.aracnet.com/~aebigelo/index.html or by emailing Sue at scrap9@comcast.net
* There is weekly bike and rollerblade racing at Portland International Raceway. Learn more at obra.org or, for rollerblading, Steve at sstelepro@gmail.com
