As a new board member and newly elected president of the Portland chapter, one of my first chores has been to review the duties of the President as outlined in our new by-laws. Sadly I learned that one of these duties includes the review of Directors and Officers liability coverage which I expanded to review the coverage for tour leaders. This required reading many many pages of insurance legalese on a computer monitor-do not try this at home!! My next attempt will involve printing out the policies so I can understand better what kind of coverage we have. Suffice it to say that after reading any insurance policy I always am left with an uneasy feeling-if insurance is to make one secure why don't I feel that way after reading these policies?
