Do not be deceived by the 3000 foot elevation of Old Man Pass.  The Wind River Winter Recreation Area offers excellent snow conditions for all but the lightest of snow years.  Groomed trails, roomy sno-parks with rest rooms, and less traffic make for an attractive alternative to the trails around Mount Hood.  An extra bonus is the tubing hill for kids.
