Meissner Nordic/TLC

Meissner Ski HutMeissner Nordic/TLC was organized in October of 1996 as Tumalo Langlauf Club, patterned after ski clubs in Europe where each town has its own Nordic ski group. The name, Tumalo Langlauf Club, comes from "Tumalo" for Tumalo Mountain a local landmark and "Langlauf," the German word meaning "long run" often used to describe cross country skiing.

Meissner Historical PhotoThe main focus of the club is to provide groomed cross country ski trails at Virginia Meissner Sno-Park. Currently, the grooming operation is supported by volunteer donations from generous members of the club and the ski community.

The club hosts activities to promote the sport of cross country skiing, including a "Learn-to-Ski Day" providing free instruction at Meissner Sno-Park for beginning and intermediate skiers, the highly successful, Middle School Skate Program providing opportunities for middle school students to learn skating. The club also provides social activities including the popular Ullr Fest, usually held in late fall to celebrate the coming winter and potlucks with a musical guest or guest speaker.
