Join the Columbia Gorge Chapter and Mt Adams Nordic for our annual Moonlight Ski and Potluck Dinner.

It has been two years since we had a moonlight ski due to lack of snow. We have snow now! Come join us for the 13th Annual Moonlight Ski & Potluck at Atkisson Snow-Park shelter near Trout Lake. Dinner and social hour will be from 5:00-6:00 p.m., and then out to ski from 6:30 until 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. The club will provide paper plates, bowls, cups, plasticware and a warm fire in the shelter. Bring your favorite food to share and your ski equipment, and have a good time.

Don’t forget your headlamp. The ski will be the usual route of 2-3 miles over easy terrain. This year the moonrise is at 2:13 p.m. with the high point at 10:07 p.m. and 89% illumination, which should make for great visibility.

Jim Mansfield and daughter Jennie skied the trail Friday night after work to check for obstacles after our recent storm. The trail is in good condition with no down trees that we cannot get around. Snow depth is approximately two feet.

Several people typically arrive at Atkisson Sno-Park by noon for a warm-up ski to one of the local attractions.  Then everyone else arrives after 5:00 bearing a delicious assortment of potluck dishes and beverages.  After a satisfying meal we all head out for an easy 2 hour ski by the light of the moon (and headlamps).  Anyone is welcome to join us as long as you bring something for the potluck.
